Outdoor Classroom

This year in sixth grade, we are pleased to announce that we are participating in the outdoor classroom. When we are there, we will be studying science topics outdoors.

When we first get to our outdoor classroom, we find a quiet spot to write in our weather proof journals 10-15 minutes.

Most recently, we played a game called Survival that reinforced our ideas about how ecosystems function. To play, we all assumed the roles of predators and prey and were faced with the task of finding food, water, and avoiding predators.  Players also had to beware of fire, disease and human.

When we are there, we love that we can learn about our environment first hand, have time to reflect in our journals, be outside, play games, be loud, and examine wildlife.

We are so fortunate to live in an area were we have unlimited access to such a beautiful and teeming environment.

Sincerely,

Sixth Grade
